As one opportunity ends behind them, another door opens for graduating Battlefords AAA Sharks Taylor Durocher and Shania Rhinehart.
The Rainy River Community College women's hockey coach Evan Amdahl announced the signing of the players after they visited the college and signed their letters of intent to play for the Voyageurs for the 2013-14 season.
Durocher, a defenceman from Meadow Lake played 83 games spanning from 2010 to 2013. She racked up five goals and seven assists in her Sharks' career.
"Taylor is a great skater, shoots the puck hard and handles the puck very well. Taylor will create offence as a defenseman and is a force to be reckoned with," noted her former Sharks coach Britt Penner.
Rhinehart, a forward from Paynton, played 110 games and four seasons with the Sharks. She finished with five career goals and seven assists.
"Shania works hard, skates well and has a great shot. Shania is a go-getter and will bring a lot of life to the team," said Penner.
Rainy River Community College in Minnesota play division II hockey in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
"We are extremely excited to get two great kids like Taylor and Shania out of a very competitive Saskatchewan AAA league," said Voyageurs coach Amdahl. "Their addition instantaneously made us a better hockey club," he added.
