Of the eight Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League teams, two have been eliminated and two have punched their tickets to the semi finals while four are still fighting to get through the first round.

The Cut Knife Colts, who finished second overall, downed the Glaslyn North Stars with two lopsided scores.

Game one ended 8-0, game two in Glaslyn was 4-3 and game three back in Cut Knife Tuesday finished with an 11-0 score.

Dallas Sperle was in net for all three wins for the Colts while Brad Duncan and Ashton Hewson led the way offensively with two goals and six assists each.

The other series that is over early may come as a surprise to some, as the fifth place Battleford Beaver Blues beat the fourth place Hafford Mustangs.

There was plenty of bad blood between the two teams, but in the end the defending champs move on. The Beaver Blues won 8-5, 13-3 and 10-2 to win the series.

The first overall Maymont Settlers are hoping their game two loss to Perdue in the first round was just a hiccup, as they try to chase down their second league championship in three years. Maymont won game one 10-2 and game three on home ice 7-0, but fell 9-6 in Biggar. Game four is set for Friday in Biggar where Perdue will look to extend the series and force a decisive game five Sunday.

In the third place versus sixth place series, the Spiritwood Timberwolves lead the Radisson Wheat Kings 2-0 with game three set to go Friday. Spiritwood won on home ice 6-0 and 5-2 in Radisson Sunday.

The second round of playoffs will likely start mid week with all four remaining teams playing for sure by the weekend.
