Girls' Softball coach, Brent Weber, was awarded one of Softball Saskatchewan's three service awards given to individuals who experienced an outstanding year of commitment, leadership and success in softball in 2012.

Weber was acknowledged for becoming an important part of softball in the past 10 years as both volunteer and coach. He had a busy year coaching the Unity Bantam Panthers who won the provincial C title. He also coached the team, under the Unity Bantam Panthers title and include several out of town players that earned a spot at this year's Saskatchewan Summer Games and subsequently won a bronze medal.

Weber was also the coach of the Zone 7 Bantam Softball team that went to this year's Fall Ball Zone Provincial Championship. It made for a summer no where else but on the ball diamond.

The committee joked about Weber being a misguided fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs but acknowledge he is a great leader for his players, willing to help them improve, supporting and guiding their development as they grow as individuals and as players.

Unity Minor Ball was also nominated in the Association of the Year category for all of the success their teams experienced in provincial championships this year, however, they lost out to Saskatoon.
