Kelsey Wildeman has always been involved in sport whether it was hockey, badminton, volleyball or track and field, but the softball field was one of her favourite places and in her Unity Minor Ball days she garnered much success.
That included this year when she was picked up to be part of the Western Canadian Championship winning team, the U.K. Royals.
In her first year of University, Kelsey decided to continue her softball aspirations and tried out for the University of Saskatchewan team Aug. 18 and 19. She found out after the second day of tryouts that she had secured a spot on this year's squad.
Wildeman say, "The ball season only consists of six weeks, which will also be my first weeks of University. I expect it to be a very busy time for me, but also exciting as these are two new experiences I am looking forward to."
The season consists of team practices every Wednesday and tournaments every weekend. Two of those weekend events will be in Saskatoon, Sept. 8 and 9 and Sept. 22 and 23, both being held at Bob Van Impe Stadium. This year's Nationals event will take place in Regina Oct. 6 to 8.
