Unity rink keeping pace at nationals

The Unity rink of Darlene Gillies, Linda Kloschinsky, Wanda Heitt and Tracy Heidt went into "moving day" at the Canadian Seniors Curling Championship in great position.

The foursome from the Unity Curling Club were 5-1 after wins against Quebec, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Manitoba and Prince Edward Island with their lone loss to that point coming at the hands of Cathy Cunnigham of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Gilles and her mates played twice Wednesday and lost both moving them to 5-3. Saskatchewan lost to Northern Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Gillies' rink entered action Thursday in fourth place. Team Saskatchewan was up against Ontario and Alberta Thursday and Friday they will wrap up their round robin play with a match against New Brunswick.

The top three teams make the playoffs, which begin Saturday.
