The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Volleyball team's libero looks to pass the ball in round robin play Friday.

It is early in the senior volleyball season, but that doesn't mean the volleyball is already at a high level.

North Battleford Comprehensive High School held its annual senior girls' tournament and the school was well represented with two teams competing in the six-team tournament.

The junior varsity team consisting of Grade 9 and 10 players, was inconsistent at times on the weekend. They did show they have the potential to develop into a strong volleyball team this season and in future high school volleyball seasons as they play together and develop more experience.

The JV team failed to make the playoffs, but the senior team did qualify.

Not only did the senior Vikings qualify for the playoff round, but they also played in the championship game against Swift Current.

Swift Current won the first two sets by close scores to win the championship.

NBCHS beat Neilburg in the semifinal while Swift Current defeated La Loche, who finished third. The other team at the two-day tournament was Macklin.

The senior Vikings will be in Prince Albert this weekend at St. Mary School while the JV team travels to Unity.
