The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings' offence was held off the board through the first two weeks of the senior football season. That changed in week three against Marion Graham in Saskatoon.

The Vikings put up 20 points, but unfortunately Marion Graham was able to score 35 against a wounded defence.

The Vikings had four starters on the sidelines with injuries Thursday night and another playing injured. Marion Graham was able to expose some of the inexperience.

"We had some concerns defensively, but a lot of that will be answered when some of our injuries are healed up," said head coach Jamie Sommerfeld days after the loss.

The Vikings are hoping to have some of their injured players return to the defence, but on the other side of the ball the coaching staff says the offence is moving in a positive direction.

"The offence is starting to really click," said Sommerfeld. "We knew it would, we knew it would take a while with a young quarterback, but Taylor (Reiley) is getting better every game and the kids are starting to learn their plays."

Reiley was the featured running back in the Vikings' offence last season so he was familiar with the playbook and has been challenged to learn a new position this season. He has become more comfortable at quarterback with each game he plays.

Friday, the Vikings go to Prince Albert Carlton and are looking to earn their first win of the season.

"I expect a win. We made huge strides last week, especially offensively putting up a good number of points. We are going into the game with some confidence and the kids know what it is like to taste the end zone. I am hoping that carries over," said Sommerfeld.

The next Vikings' home game is Oct 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Beaver Lions Stadium.
