Some of the best competition of high school-aged wrestlers from Western Canada gathered in Saskatoon on the weekend.

North Battleford Comprehensive High School sent 10 athletes to compete in the Western Canadian Wrestling Tournament and all athletes had a promising showing.

Friday, Taylor Reiley won the gold in the novice portion after winning five straight matches.

Saturday, the competition level increased, as the elite portion of the tournament took place.

Taisley Isaac had the best finish. She won two of her matches, but lost the bronze medal match and claimed fourth place.

Erica Landrie won three of her five matches and finished fifth in her division.

According to NBCHS coach Stephen Neufeld the athletes all did well and now turn their attention to the regional tournament that will take place March 3 in Prince Albert.

NBCHS along with Wilkie and 29 others school will be represented as they battle for provincial berths. Provincials take place March 9 and 10 in Regina.
