The Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League went down to the final game, but Wednesday the game wasn't very long.

A couple defensive mistakes by the Battlefords Midget Bandits and some stellar pitching by the Northwest Junior Vipers' Brittany Fedler and the game lasted just four and half innings.

The Vipers earned the 7-0 victory and didn't have to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Bandits started the game by getting their leadoff runner on base and, after a stolen base and a passed ball, they had a chance to score the run and take an early lead. That wasn't the case. Fedler retired the next three batters in the first inning and didn't allow another runner on base the rest of the game. Fedler pitched five innings, allowing one walk, no hits and struck out eight for a dominant, complete game, no-hitter.

One the other side of the diamond, Sydney Rempel and Caitlyn Woloski each pitched two innings for the Bandits. After facing six batters in the first inning, Rempel was able to keep the Vipers off the scoreboard, but in the second inning the Vipers struck for four runs.

Charnele Jellison, Shirraya Tuchsherer, Toni Wall and Christa Blaquiere all scored for the Vipers, with Blaquiere and Jamie Fedler both driving in two runs.

Woloski shut down the Vipers in the third inning, striking out two of the four batters she faced. In the fourth inning the Vipers scored three runs, which was enough to end the game.

Blaquiere scored twice and drove in two runs while earning one hit and one stolen base. Jamie Fedler was 2/2 while the Vipers combined for six hits.

The Vipers will look to build on Wednesday's momentum as they will face off with the Prince Albert Aces in the Women's junior B provincial championship. Just two teams were registered at the B level so it will be a best-of-five series in Prince Albert with the first three games scheduled for 1, 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday. If necessary games four and five are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday.
