Wakaw wins Junior Boys' Volleyball District championship

The team from Wakaw was named the Junior Boys' Volleyball District Champion at the district tournament held November 3 at Humboldt Public School.

The team from Wakaw was named the Junior Boys' Volleyball District Champion at the district tournament held November 3 at Humboldt Public School. Teams from Muenster, Humboldt Collegiate Institute, Wakaw and Annaheim battled it out in the one-day tournament. In the first matchups of the day, Muenster won over Humboldt two sets to one, and Annaheim bested Wakaw two wins to nothing as well. Playing back-to-back, Annaheim took on Humboldt and lost two sets to one, and Wakaw beat Muenster two sets to one as well. Annaheim won two sets over Muenster, and Wakaw two over Humboldt in the final round-robin games of the day. That put Wakaw in the semifinal against Muenster, which Wakaw won two sets to none. Wakaw then moved on to the final versus Annaheim, which they won two sets to none, making them the overall winner of the tournament and District champions."All teams were very well matched and after the round robin, two teams were at 2-1 and two were at 1-2," noted HCI coach David Millette. HCI finished fourth because they had lost to Muenster previously. Annaheim was first after the round robin, with Wakaw finishing second after the round robin.
