Before the Battlefords North Stars they took the ice against Flin Flon they announced another transaction.
The North Stars traded 20-year-old forward Justin Waskewitch to the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. In exchange the North Stars will receive future considerations.
Waskewitch played 15 games with the North Stars since being traded in mid-October. Waskewitch had two goals and three assists in his first two games and finished his time with the team with four goals and seven assists.
This was Waskewitch's second stint with the North Stars, as he broke into the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with the North Stars during the 2009-10 season. He played 25 games before being traded to Estevan. Waskewitch was traded to Nipawin in 2011 and lead the team in points last year. The Cut Knife product sat out the early part of this season waiting for a trade and now has been moved four times in his junior career.
Other local area players with the Blizzard include former Midget Stars and North Stars defenceman Kolton Baptiste of Cando and Justin McDonald of Turtleford, a former Midget Stars prospect.
Also traded to OCN Tuesday was former North Star forward Roger Tagoona. He was moved from the Estevan Bruins. Tagoona was traded from the North Stars to the Estevan at the end of October and he too will be joining his fourth junior team since 2010.
The OCN Blizzard lead the MJHL with a 19-7-2 record and are ranked sixth in the Canadian Junior Hockey League's Top 20.
