Water Doves net six top-five finishes in Regina

Four members of the North Battleford Water Doves synchronized swimming team finished in the top five of their respective competitions last weekend at Sadie Caulder Knight Provincial Stream Provincial Championships in Regina.

Four members of the North Battleford Water Doves synchronized swimming team finished in the top five of their respective competitions last weekend at Sadie Caulder Knight Provincial Stream Provincial Championships in Regina.

Victoria Machniak took home first place in the SSWCD L2 solo finals championship.

There were two top-five finishes in the solo championships. In 11-12 provincial stream age group, Courtney Roberts placed fifth, finishing with a score of 50.2825. In the 13-15 provincial stream age group, Jenna Parker finished in fifth with a score of 52.6743. She was under 3.5 points out of third place.

In the duets finals, the team of Kylie Burnett and Breah Weber finished fourth in the 16-18 provincial stream age group with a 53.3879 score.

There were also two top-five finishes in the team competition. The Water Doves finished fifth in the 9-10 provincial stream competition with a final score of 42.7833. In the 11-12 provincial stream championship, North Battleford placed fifth with a score of 47.5314.

The Water Doves were well represented in the opening figures part of the competition. Emma Russell was fifth in the eight and under recreational stream.

In the 9-10 provincial stream age group, Tara Parker was the top Water Dove with a 15th place finish. Makenzie Gidych and Kaylee Loken finished 20th and 25th respectively.

There were three top-20 finishes in the 11-12 provincial stream age group. Courtney Roberts was in 10th, Emma Kowalski finished 11th and Keifer Gidych placed 17th. Jerri Michelman finished the competition in 26th.

Parker placed 15th in the 13-15 figures provincial stream group.

Burnett and Weber also competed separately in the figures 16-18 provincial stream age grouping. Burnett finished in a tie for ninth place, while Weber was close behind in 11th. The pairing was separated by 0.085 points.

There were a total of 181 athletes participating in the competition. Some of the athletes competing will continue on to the next competition, which is the Canadian Prairie Invitational Championship in Winnipeg, Man. May 9-11.
