The 2017 edition of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Showcase wrapped up Wednesday in Saskatoon with a pair of games.
In the first contest of the day, defenceman Josh McDougall helped to set up four of the goals scored by the Nipawin Hawks as they picked up a 7-3 win over the Kindersley Klippers.
Michael Grant scored twice and had an assist in the victory, which saw Keillan Olson pick up three assists and Chad McCartney pot home a pair of goals.
Zach Cox had a goal and an assist for the Hawks, while Bryson Cecconi and Brett Harasymuk rounded out the scoring.
Curtis Peck and Jordan Funk had a goal and an assist each for the Klippers, with their other goal coming from defenceman Noah Turanski.
The event wrapped up with another victory for the Melfort Mustangs, as they improved to 6-0 on the season with a 4-0 shutout of the Yorkton Terriers.
Adam Hergott led the way on offence with a goal and an assist, while Evan Plotnik picked up his first shutout of the season after a 21-save showing.
Ashton Oakes, Andrew Thompson and Hunter Buzzi had the other goals for the Mustangs, who are the only unbeaten team left in the SJHL.
Nolan Maier turned aside 39 shots for the Terriers in a losing effort.
