The Battlefords AAA Sharks went on their final road trip of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League regular season on the weekend to face the Weyburn Gold Wings.

The Sharks returned home Sunday after losing 12-1 and 4-0. In the two games against the third-place Wings, the Sharks surrendered 129 shots.

Sunday, Jacy Akre stopped 50 of 54 shots while Weyburn earned the shutout. The Gold Wings scored two power play goals in the third period and were 2/15 with the man advantage Sunday.

The Wings were 3/22 on the weekend on the power play while the Sharks were 1/14.

The Sharks' goal was scored in the second period Saturday when Kendra Gerbig scored from Shania Rhinehart and Taylor Durocher. Gerbig's first goal of the season helped move her past her total of four points last season and earn her career high in the league.

Akre stopped 38 of 43 shots in nearly 27 minutes while Rachel Mitchell turned away 25 and 32 shots in 33 minutes.

The Sharks had 17 shots in the game Saturday, but that number dropped to 10 shots Sunday.

The Sharks will finish the regular season schedule with a neutral site game in Meadow Lake against Prince Albert Feb. 17. The game against Prince Albert will be the final regular season game for three 1994-born graduating players.

Jamie Fedler has played 60 regular season games with Sharks dating back to the 2008-09 season when she was called up for one game. Fedler has nine goals and 14 assists in her Sharks' career. Shayna Thomas has played 81 games with Sharks and recorded five assists as a defenceman. Tori Bonnett has played three full seasons and 79 games with the Sharks recording two goals and six assists.

There will be no games in the SFMAAAHL this weekend, as the Sask First female zone camps will take place on the weekend for players born in 1995 to 1998.
