The Wilkie Outlaws climbed to the top of the NSRHL last weekend with two wins on the road against the Meadow Lake Stampeders.
Wilkie (5-0) opened the weekend with a 3-1 win Saturday night. Kyle Wagner had a goal and an assist for the Outlaws. Derek Keller and Mitch Suchan also scored for the Outlaws. DJ King recorded the lone goal for the Stampeders (2-3).
The Outlaws scored five times in the second period en route to a 9-1 trouncing of Meadow Lake. Wagner and Suchan each had hat tricks in the game. Keller, Barrett Penner and David Schell were also goal scorers for the Outlaws. King again registered the only goal for the Stampeders.
The St. Walburg Eagles also stayed undefeated on the season with a 7-4 win Saturday night at home against the Edam 3 Stars. Jordan Fuder and Brady Zerr each had two goals and an assist for St. Walburg (4-0). Trevor Bailey, Tyler Husch and Sheldon Williamson also scored for the Eagles. Mitch Wall scored twice for Edam (1-3), with Joel Jullion and Damon Schaffer providing the other 3 Stars' goals.
In other NSRHL action, the Stampeders edged the Jets 6-5 Friday night in Maidstone. The Jets lost to the Tigers 6-4 Saturday night in Turtleford.
Wilkie is alone on top of the NSRHL standings with 10 points. St. Walburg is close behind with eight.
There are five games this weekend in the NSRHL. The Outlaws try to stay undefeated with two games against the Tigers (1-4).
Friday night, St. Walburg will try to keep pace with Wilkie when they host the Stampeders and the Maidstone Jets (1-4) travel to Edam to take on the 3 Stars (1-3).
The Jets stay on the road Saturday night when they head to Meadow Lake to face off against the Stampeders.
