The Wilkie Outlaws won all three games last weekend to push their winning streak to six in the NSRHL.
The Outlaws (13-1) dominated the Turtleford Tigers 12-1 Friday night in Wilkie. Mitch Suchan led Wilkie with two goals and four assists. Rick Cey and Kyle Wagner both had hat tricks for the Outlaws. Wilkie also got goals from Kurt Johnson, Derrek Keller, Brett Schell and Mike Sittler. Adam Schwark scored the Tigers' lone goal.
Wilkie travelled to Edam Saturday night and skated to a 5-1 victory over the 3 Stars (9-6). Sittler had two goals and two assists in Wilkie's win. Barrett Penner scored twice and Kyle Wagner added a goal for the Outlaws. Mitch Wall saved the 3 Stars from a shutout with his second period goal.
The Outlaws' winning weekend concluded with a tough 5-4 win at home over the St. Walburg Eagles. Penner and Andrew Herle both had two-goal nights for the Outlaws against the Eagles. Cey had the other goal for Wilkie. Brad Gehl and Brady Zerr each had two goals in the loss for St. Walburg.
In other NSRHL this past weekend, St. Walburg shut out Edam 7-0 at home Friday night. Zerr led the team with two goals and an assist. Gehl, Trevor Bailey, Darren Delainey, Sheldon Williamson and Brent Wilson also found the back of the net for the Eagles.
There were two more games Saturday night. St. Walburg (11-3-1) continued their strong play at home with a 7-1 win over the Maidstone Jets (2-11). Wilson had a hat trick in the Eagles' win. Gehl, Williamson, Zerr and Cole Fern all scored for the Eagles. Rory Gregoire registered the only goal for the Jets.
In the other Saturday night game, the Meadow Lake Stampeders (5-7) won 8-4 on the road in Turtleford against the Tigers (1-11-1). Jamie Jeanotte had two goals and an assist for the Stampeders. Darren Caron, Scott Fransky, Jorden Iron, DJ King, Les Ludwig and Ashton McIntyre were the other Meadow Lake goal scorers. Kris Bloom, Jordan Macnab, Garth Matevenko and Mitch Perkins lit the lamp for Turtleford.
Wilkie kept their spot on top of the NSRHL standings and now leads the league with 26 points. St. Walburg is three points back of Wilkie in second. The 3 Stars fell to five points behind the Eagles for third place in the league. Meadow Lake, Maidstone and Turtleford round out the bottom half of the standings.
There are four games this weekend. Turtleford travels to Wilkie to take on the Outlaws and Edam hosts Meadow Lake Friday night. Both games start at 8:30 p.m.
Meadow Lake stays on the road Saturday night when they face off against the Outlaws in Wilkie. Puck drop is 8:30 p.m. The Jets welcome Turtleford into Maidstone Saturday night for a 9 p.m. game.
The weekend wraps up with the NSRHL All-Star game Sunday during the SaskEnergy Hockey Weekend in St. Walburg. The NSRHL All-Star team plays against the defending AAA provincial champion Rosetown Redwings.
