The Wilkie Outlaws were clearly in no mood to settle for just one title.
That could be said about the Outlaws' 4-1 victory over St. Walburg Eagles to win their second straight North Saskatchewan River Hockey League title.
But it also could be said about this season. Just a week earlier, the Outlaws beat Radville at home by a 5-3 score to clinch the series for the Provincial C Senior title in front of the raucous crowd in Wilkie.
The game seven win would be the icing on the cake for the local fans, who are witnessing a new era that brings back memories of the glory days of the 1980s in Wilkie hockey.
The final game itself was a wild and wooly affair. St. Walburg came out firing in the first period, heavily outshooting the Outlaws to start the game.
However it was Wilkie who got the first goal. Mike Sittler scored on the power play from Lorne Griffiths and Dustin Glackin to make it 1-0 early in the first.
At the 11:36 mark, Mitch Suchan made it 2-0 with assists from Brett Schell and Will Rathje. Shots on goal were 12-6 St. Walburg after one period.
The second period proved even wilder than the first, with plenty of penalties and a frenetic pace set to the game. The arena erupted at the 7:10 mark when Rathje scored from Schell and Robert Keller to give the Outlaws an insurmountable 3-0 lead.
Late in the period, Wilkie had a two-man advantage and the Outlaws capitalized with 24 seconds left with Derek Keller scoring from Sittler. It was 4-0 Outlaws after two.
Jordan Fuder of the Eagles scored the only goal of the third period from Darren Delainey and Brent Wilson at the 4:05 mark.
Once again, the period was marked by penalties with the Eagles going on a two-man advantage at one point, but Wilkie was able to kill that penalty off.
Finally, a late penalty to St. Walburg with 2:30 remaining pretty much ended any further comeback hopes.
All that was left was for the clock to tick down to zero, the Outlaws players to mob goaltender Jared Herle and for the cup to be presented to Mike Sittler following a 4-1 victory.
The players then posed for the obligatory team picture on the ice in front of happy friends and family, wrapping up what has been a memorable season for hockey fans in Wilkie and across the Northwest region.
