Wilkie winners of three straight

The Wilkie Outlaws continued their impressive NSRHL campaign with a 7-3 win over the Maidstone Jets Saturday night. It was the Outlaws' third straight win following their only loss of the season to the Edam 3 Stars Dec. 20.

The Wilkie Outlaws continued their impressive NSRHL campaign with a 7-3 win over the Maidstone Jets Saturday night. It was the Outlaws' third straight win following their only loss of the season to the Edam 3 Stars Dec. 20.

Wilkie (10-1) was led by Rick Cey, who put up two goals and an assist in the win. Kyle Wagner also scored twice for the Outlaws. Derrek Keller, Mike Sittler and Mitch Suchan were the other goal-scorers for Wilkie. Rory Gregoire, Shelton Paton and Jared Rutley found the back of the net for Maidstone (2-9).

Edam (8-4) got another big win this weekend over the St. Walburg (9-2-1), beating the Eagles 5-2 Friday night. ONeil Baillargeon, Joel and Jordan Blaquiere, Brett Jullion and Mitch Wall each scored in Edam's win. The Eagles received goals from Randy Larre and Sheldon Williamson.

The 3 Stars hosted the Turtleford Tigers Saturday night. Edam came away with a 4-3 overtime win over the Tigers (1-9-1). Keegan Bourelle, Geordy Gabruck, Marc LaClare and Brennan Weitzel contributed goals for Edam. The Tigers' goal scorers were Adam Gray, Mitch Perkins and Adam Schwark.

The Tigers also played Friday night, losing 6-5 to Maidstone. Paton scored twice in the Jets' victory. Jayden Beaubien, Chase James, Tyler Johnston and Rutley added goals for Maidstone. Turtleford's goals were scored by Perkins, Schwark, Kris Bloom, Jordan Macnab and Michael Windsor.

Last weekend's final game saw the Eagles crush the Meadow Lake Stampeders 9-3 Saturday night. Trevor Bailey and Sheldon Williamson each had two goals an assist for St. Walburg. Jordan Fuder, Paul Sonntag, Brent Wilson, Zach Wourms and Brady Zerr also lit the lamp for the Eagles. Dustin Gorst, Jamie Jeanotte and DJ King scored for Meadow Lake (4-7).

Wilkie is still on top of the NSRHL standings with 20 points. St. Walburg is one point behind in second. Edam is four points back of the Outlaws as the 3 Stars are in third. Meadow Lake, Maidstone and Turtleford round out the bottom half of the league.

There are five NSRHL games this weekend. Turtleford travels to Wilkie and Edam faces off against the Eagles in St. Walburg Friday night. Both games start at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday's action sees Maidstone in St. Walburg, Turtleford hosting Meadow Lake and Wilkie visiting Edam looking for retribution. All games begin at 8:30 p.m.
