Wilkie's win streak reaches double digits

The Wilkie Outlaws are the hottest team in the NSRHL. The Outlaws have won their last 10 games after winning twice last weekend. Wilkie started off their weekend with a 6-4 win at home over the Maidstone Jets Friday night.

The Wilkie Outlaws are the hottest team in the NSRHL. The Outlaws have won their last 10 games after winning twice last weekend.

Wilkie started off their weekend with a 6-4 win at home over the Maidstone Jets Friday night. Kyle Wagner led the way for the Outlaws with a goal and two assists. Rick Cey scored twice for Wilkie. Brett Gerein, Andrew Herle and Mitch Suchan also added goals for the Outlaws. The Jets received goals from Rory Gregoire, Chase James, Troy Johnston and Ben Schwartz.

In other NSRHL action Friday night, the St. Walburg Eagles beat the Edam 3 Stars 3-2 in a shootout. Darren Delainey and Brent Wilson found the back of the net for St. Walburg. Brent Weber and Brennan Weitzel were Edam's goal scorers.

Also Friday night, the Meadow Lake Stampeders downed the Tigers 6-4 in Turtleford. Calvin Fiddler and Jorden Iron both had two goals for the Stampeders. Harris Cameron and Ashton McIntyre also scored for Meadow Lake. Kris Bloom, Adam Gray, Jordan Macnab and Michael Windsor lit the lamp for Turtleford.

The Outlaws (17-1) gave St. Walburg (13-3-2) a taste of their own medicine Saturday night, beating the Eagles 5-4 in a shootout on the road. Lorne Griffiths scored twice for Wilkie. Cey and Martin Smith also found the back of the net for the Outlaws. The Eagles were led by Travis Nasby's two goals. Paul Sonntag and Brady Zerr were St. Walburg's other goal scorers.

Turtleford (3-13-2) responded to their loss with a 6-3 win at home over Edam (10-7-1). Windsor had two goals for the Tigers. Bloom, Garret Macnab, Zack Macnab and Adam Schwark also scored for Turtleford. Mitch Wall scored twice for the 3 Stars. Ryan Roach was Edam's other goal scorer.

Meadow Lake (7-8-1) closed out the weekend with a 9-1 romp over Maidstone (2-13-1). McIntyre and Chad Crookedneck both had two goals in the win. Cameron, Darren Caron, Dustin Gorst, Jamie Jeanotte and Logan Pethick rounded out the goal scoring for Meadow Lake. Schwartz recorded the lone goal for Maidstone.

Wilkie extended their first-place lead to six points over the St. Walburg Eagles, who are in second. Edam is in third place followed by Meadow Lake in fourth. Turtleford and Maidstone are fifth and sixth respectively.

There are four games in the NSRHL this weekend. Friday night sees Turtleford heading to Meadow Lake and Maidstone hosting Wilkie.

In Saturday night's action, Meadow Lake hosts Edam and St. Walburg travels to Maidstone.
