A strong field of more than 50 golfers took part in the North Battleford Golf and Country Club Championship on the weekend.
Brett Harrison led all golfers early on and never looked back, as he won the men's gold championship. Harrison fired a 69 Saturday and entered Sunday six strokes up on the next closest golfer. Harrison shot a 75 Sunday to earn the championship title.
Bryce Bohun made a big move Sunday after a first round 78. Bohun finished second with a 152 in the gold championship flight. George Macgregor was third at 153. There were 14 golfers competing in the gold championship flight.
Seven golfers competed in the men's blue championship and Vaughn Fauth took top honours with a two-round total of 158. Brett Payne and Andy Friedrich shot 167s to tie for second place.
In the senior men's division, Neil Lampitt and Herb Weinmeyer shot identical 77-74 scores. Weinmeyer edged Lampitt in a playoff hole to earn the senior title. Brian Lampitt was third with a 154. The senior men's group had 20 golfers compete on the weekend.
Cheryl Hartl won the senior ladies' championship with scores of 87 and 89. Second place went to Sharon Lampitt with Marj Muth third.
In the ladies' championship, Janet George and Deanna Klusa were tied after the first day at 87. George shot an 85 on the second day to take top honours with a two-round total of 172. Klusa finished second with Paula Scherr in third place.
Two golfers also competed in the junior boys' championship and they finished with identical scores. Brett Benoit shot 88 and 85 while Kristian Houk shot 84 and 89. They tied at 173.
The next and last major tournament at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club will be the Fall Scramble, which is Sept. 22 and 23.
