MEADOW LAKE — Meadow Lake’s Trina Alexander is $100,000 richer after winning on her Daily Grand and Extra ticket.
The local resident was headed out for breakfast when she decided to finally check her ticket.
“My family hates that I leave my tickets for months without checking them,” she laughed.
When Alexander saw a $100,000 prize on a ticket she purchased back in June, she was stunned.
“I was definitely taken aback,” she said. “I told my whole family at breakfast, and they were elated for me.”
Alexander bought the ticket during a road trip through Alberta with friends. They stopped for a bathroom break at the Esso located at 5321 Sanchuk St. in Mundare, where she purchased her Daily Grand and Extra ticket.
“I just keep thinking, ‘Thank God my friends and I stopped in Mundare to see the giant sausage [statue],’” she laughed. “We were going to stop in Vermilion to see the big egg but stopped sooner—thank God we did. It was a $100,000 stop.”
The win will also help fuel future road trips.
“I just purchased a new vehicle, so now I can pay that off,” she said. “Otherwise, I’m just going to save the rest in the bank.”
Alexander won her prize by matching the last six digits in the July 24 Extra draw: 3985113.
