BAPTISTE: Justice Blaze Baptiste was born April 14, 2010 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. His arrival was a huge blessing to his parents Dale Baptiste and Shannon Paranteau. This healthy little boy, who looked like his dad, brought joy to all around him. Justice struggled with health issues starting when he was one month old. He had a stroke that almost took him to the Creator, but he was a true little warrior and proved that he wanted to remain with his family. Justice spent most of his time in Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, where he won the hearts of all the nurses and doctors who looked after him. Though the odds were against him, Justice made it to one year's old, where his Kokum Lena Albert honored him by giving him his Indian name Ohmina?s (Little Hunter). Justice had a tough year, but he enjoyed his family, and smiled and laughed with his parents and big sisters Breeze and Autumn. Throughout the year, the extended family came together to hold vigils and prayers were sent from all over Indian Country to keep him safe and healthy. Justice passed away in his mother's arms on Saturday, May 28, 2011. Like the true strong soul that he is, Justice chose the time and place when he would pass to the Creator's hands. He waited until his parents did family pictures and spent quality time with him, and left before his suffering was more heartbreaking for the family. His pain and suffering are over, and he has returned to the spirit world where he will watch over his family and be their special little warrior angel. Justice we love you so much, and thank you for all of the teachings that you graciously gave to everyone who was fortunate to know you. A wake was held at Little Pine Community Hall, Little Pine First Nation, SK on Sunday May 29th and continued until his funeral service Tuesday, May 31, 2011, officiated by Band Elders and Reverend Father Dong Doan.
