FORESTER: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Rhoda Forester at the age of 92 years, Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at Prince George, BC. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Rod (Barb), North Battleford, SK; Larry (Heather), North Battleford, SK; Brent (Joan), Nanaimo, BC; Lynn (Gerry), Prince George, BC; Bruce (Dhyann), Prince George, BC; her Grandchildren: Martin, Jason, Kimberly, Jill, Kerry, Kristin, Karen, Christopher, Audra-Lynne, Amanda & Madison; her Great-Grandchildren: Devan, Brodie, Autumn, Alysha, Matthew, Cian, Ashton, Drake, Krislynn, Soren, Amelia, Laura Beth, Jo-Jo; her sister, Noma West and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Rhoda is predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack; her granddaughter, Jennifer; her sisters: Alma & Luella and brothers: Fred & Sam. Rhoda was born on a farm in Lemsford, SK on June 17, 1920. She met and married the love of her life in 1938. They went on to have 5 children. She enjoyed travelling to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands. Rhoda's greatest accomplishments were raising her family and fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a teacher. Rhoda went back to school at the age of 54; earned her teaching degree and taught school at Van Bien from 1974 - 1981. Rhoda and Jack built their dream home in Parksville, BC where they lived for 12 yrs then moved back to North Battleford until Jack's passing in 1998. After moving to Prince George, Rhoda spent her time enjoying trips to the casino, playing yahtzee with friends and taking creative writing classes. The Funeral Service was held Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at "The Garden Chapel" ~ Battlefords Funeral Service, North Battleford, SK with Rev. Frances Patterson officiating. Family Memories were shared by Jason & Kristin Forester. Gifts of Music: Organist: Glenn Goodman; Soloist: Robert MacKay: "You'll Never Walk Alone" and Hymn Selections: "Just As I Am", "Abide With Me", "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". The Pallbearers were Rod Forester, Larry Forester, Brent Forester, Bruce Forester, Gerry Cunningham and Chris Forester. Memorials are requested to Canadian Cancer Society Rhoda was laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jack at the City Cemetery. Condolences can be forwarded to mail@battlefordsfuneralservice.com.
