MILLER - After a courageous battle with cancer and with friends at her side, Agnes A. Miller passed away peacefully on January 23, 2012 at Tofield, Alberta. Ag was born on January 13, 1927 at Moosomin, Saskatchewan. She was raised on a farm, which she worked with her mother after her father contracted tuberculosis. Ag was employed as a telephone operator with Sask Tel for five years. Ag married Reinhold Miller on February 20, 1950 and devoted her life to his care until his death in 1976 from ALS. In 2010, Ag moved to Tofield, Alberta, to retain her independence and she was able to live as she wished, in her own apartment, until a few weeks before her death. Throughout the decades Agnes was a steadfast volunteer with the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and upon its disbandment, the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation. Ag was predeceased by her parents, Metro Mostow in 1977 and Theresia Mostow in 2002. Ag is survived by Rein's sisters, Leona Dumka, Martha Werner, Emma Neil and Freida Abday, by Rein's sister-in-law, Isabelle Miller and by Rein's numerous nephews and nieces. Ag was sustained in her health and gracious spirit through the support of her close friends, David and Marg McDonald, Vic and Marg Gillian, Lorraine Houk, Cara Roschker, Sue Speed and the Richard Buchko family. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church with interment to follow the lunch at the City of North Battleford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donation in Ag's memory be made to the ALS Society, Canadian Cancer Society, or to the BUH Foundation.
