SMITH - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Smith, late of North Battleford on May 8, 2011 at the age of 79 years. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Walter (Hilda) Loch and their family: Heather Loch (Steve), Chada, David and Drake of Prince, SK; Charmaine Loch (Daryl), Karlie, Jordan and Jorgia of Battleford; Holly Loch of North Battleford; son Keith (Sharlene) Loch and their family: Mitchell Loch and Cohen of North Battleford; Codie Loch of North Battleford; sister Patricia (Bernie) LeBlanc of Watrous, SK; aunt Winnie Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her husbands Walter Loch and Jack Smith; parents Alberta and Robert Loscombe; and brothers Jim and Gerry Loscombe. Eulogy by Charmaine Loch On June 2, 1931 born to Alberta and Robert Loscombe, Mary Elizabeth Louise Smith. Grandma. Grandma left us quietly at her own home with family by her side on Mother's Day Sunday May 8 2011. Grandma married her first husband Walter Loch in 1949. He passed away when Uncle Keith was only 5 weeks old in 1952. She married Grandpa Jack in the summer of 1959. We lost Grandpa Jack 2 Years ago. Grandma was the proud parent of her two sons: Walter, my dad, and my uncle Keith. She enjoyed going for coffee with them every day, usually at Tim Horton's. Can't figure out why she liked spending so much time with them. Grandma liked to help out anyway she could. With raising us kids when my sisters and I were young and both our parents worked early in the morning, she would be there in the morning to wake us up, make us breakfast, and made sure we were ready for school on time. She helped out Uncle Keith and Sharlene by babysitting my cousins Mitch and Codie. They spent a lot of time out at the lake with our Grandparents the boys loved it so much. My nephew Drake called her Grandma Mitt cause he couldn't say Smith and she really liked being called that so all of us started calling her that. Grandma Mitt enjoyed watching TV. She liked her judge shows and watching WWE wrestling. She even wrestled with my Cousin Mitch's son Cohen. I'm sure after her shows were done, on went the police scanner where she enjoyed listening to the local cops doing their jobs and hearing what the bad guys were up to. Grandma enjoyed company stopping by for a visit, my son Jordan is one of them. He would walk over to her house to visit; I don't know if he was going to visit her or her fridge. She always had something made to give out for a little treat. She liked her burger and fries. She loved dogs, even had a statue of a dog my dad gave her. She named it Bling Bling and she left this in her living room. She had a love of summer time. She loved to garden and plant her flowers, and going out to garage sales. She spent a lot of time keeping her yard work done, not to mention all her house work too. I don't think I ever seen a dirty dish in her house. She enjoyed the casino especially the decorations they had at Christmas time. Hmmm Christmas. Christmas Eve will no longer be the same, all the family would meet up at Grandma's house where we would exchange gifts, sit and visit and of course have a snack. Grandma was a great baker. She would have everyone's favourites her homemade buns, lemon tarts, butter tarts and all kinds of goodies, as well as my favourite: her cream puffs. Grandma still lives in our hearts and memories; I know wherever Grandma is she is content and happy, especially with grandpa Jack. I'm sure she would all want us to be happy for her now she is by his side once again. We miss you and we love you Grandma. The memorial service was held on Friday, May 13, 2011 from the Chapel of Wilson and Zehner Funeral Home with Reverend Peter Norman officiating. Memorial donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Mary's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Johnson, Dr. M.C. Khurana, Dr. Waynard Vandermerwe, Dr. Mehboob, the medical staff at St. Paul's Hospital, and all of the BUH nursing staff that participated in her care. Walter and Keith would also like to thank Aunt Winnie and their wives Hilda and Sharlene for their care. They were able to fulfill Mary's wish of living out her final days at home.
