Dear Editor
A few days back on Highway 4 and Territorial I was hand cuffed for obstructing justice by standing in front of the police camera.
Officers were catching people not quite stopping at the corner when making a right turn. The RCMP set up a public harassment, I mean a police sting, using the two establishment's on that corner, which I frequent. However, I am surprised they would allow their business to be used in this way, especially when a large part of the victims are trying to spend money there.
Those who were ticketed, I feel for you, because this did nothing to make that corner or our city safer. I have seen police themselves doing the same thing in an emergency, to get to Tim Hortons, I guess. This is a money grab. This is a disgrace to the uniform.
The RCMP have been gracious to me on occasion, for which I am grateful. However this kind of police work needs to be stopped. We are not under Hitler's rule. Not yet.
The design of that corner needs to change to a yield. So highways or city or whoever is responsible, please change this, so police can do more important things.
