Celebrating cultural diversity

I have sat many times in silence as people around me spoke out against all aboriginals because of one who has made some bad choices.

I have tried at times to speak out only to feel that I am knocking my head against a wall. I have even been told my daughter is not aboriginal because she has a job.

Our generation has so many resources at their fingertips to educate themselves regarding the history of our beautiful country and province. Not all of that history is known, accepted or even considered as part of the reason why we are even here. Aboriginal people shared their land with us and this is how we respond.

Each of us has, at some time, felt alone or ostracized for some reason so we should be able to support each other and empathize with each other because each of us is more alike than we are different.

I totally agree that we must take responsibility and give 100 per cent to the 11 per cent.
