Change for the better

As a new resident to the City of Humboldt, I have moved from the Village of Middle Lake to the seniors' complex called Caleb Village. There were two main reasons that I came to Caleb - one reason being that I had a car accident which crushed a vertebrae in my mid-back. I was able to get a lady in Middle Lake to come into my home to do laundry, wash floors, clean windows, cut the grass and make some meals. This lady got a full time job and was unable to do all these things and I was unable to get someone to do this work to replace her. All these things plus three meals a day are done at Caleb, and covered with the amount that I pay as rent. When I moved into Caleb, SGI cut off my benefits that I used to pay that lady to do this work. There are a few things that I will miss - a place to do woodcarving, and a garage for my car. Since getting three meals a day, I have gained four or five pounds. This is my retirement home, where everyone should be happy, but things started to change about the time they lost the services of the maintenance man who was very knowledgeable with fire regulations and very knowledgeable in everything that goes wrong in a building like this. I don't know what happened, but the old saying is, no matter how flat you make a pancake, there is always two sides. I hope things change for the better.
