CUPlex project shows vision

Dear Editor

I have been reading the recent letters to the editor about the apparent shortfall for the construction of the proposed multiplex, and in particular, the field house.

I am relatively new to the Battlefords, having moved here from the East coast just four years ago with my family. This area has quickly won my heart, and I am proud to call it home. I look forward to my three children having access to the new recreational facilities being constructed.

I believe I am not alone when I say that I am sure other young families with foresight are also excited about the CUPlex development. I could get into the benefits of the proposed four new facilities (which are many), but I think simply recognizing that building a community where people want to live, work and grow requires vision and sometimes, sacrifices.

A small tax hike and some extra debt carrying by our municipality is, in my opinion, a small price to pay for the construction of a facility that will "put us on the map," and help promote healthy lifestyles in our community. I, for one, am willing to make the sacrifice to see the community that has welcomed me so graciously grow and I applaud the vision of our mayor and council for the foresight they have showed in their efforts to get this effort off the ground.
