Humboldt ministerial message: Wisdom, the principal thing

With our journey into a post-pandemic world and reality, wisdom should be desperately sought after in every area of our life for a smoother transition into our changed world, said Reverend Araba Quaye in her Humboldt ministerial message.

Now that we have entered into the second half of the year we are needing the wisdom of God more than ever to help us navigate the post pandemic world.

At the beginning of the year I was led to this scripture verse found in Psalm 90:12. It reads, “Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Another translation puts it this way “

So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely. If we applied more of the wisdom of God to our daily decision making processes we would probably find ourselves living a life filled with more solutions than problems. More peace than chaos. More joy than sadness.

King Solomon, one of the wisest kings to ever have lived, provided some sound advice in Proverbs 4:7. It reads, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

Wisdom is not just knowledge. It is knowing how to apply knowledge to solve a problem or create an opportunity. Wisdom brings solutions. Even God used wisdom to create the earth! It is something we cannot live without if we want to be a success. With our journey into a post-pandemic world and reality, wisdom should be desperately sought after in every area of our life for a smoother transition into our changed world.

The Lord Jesus gave a parable that addressed wisdom and how to attain it. In Matthew 7: 24-27 He says, “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

The salvation package that Jesus paid for with His life and blood shed on the cross at Calvary contains everything that we need to be a success. Wisdom is part of that package because scripture says that Jesus has made wisdom unto us.

If you have never prayed the salvation prayer or invited Jesus to be your Saviour I would encourage you to say this prayer after me. Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me of my sin. I believe that Jesus died for me and was resurrected on the third day. I declare Jesus Lord over my life. Jesus said that whoever listens to his teachings and follows them is wise. I thank you for this new full life that He provides and the wisdom of God that is part of the package when I listen and follow His teachings. Thank you for hearing my prayer in Jesus ’name. Amen.
