Is the PM telling the truth?

Victor Hult (Beware the killing frosts, Aug. 27) states he doesn’t understand what the big deal is whether Steven Harper knew in advance of Nigel Wright’s intention of funding Mike Duffy’s repayment of fraudulent expense claims.

There are two other points which are much more important. The first is whether the prime minister is telling the truth. Just look across the line and see what they do to presidents who lie. (Duffy Gate, I mean Water Gate!)

The second point and even more important is why were Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin appointed to the Senate and who appointed them? First off, the reason for the appointments: they were hired as fundraisers for the Conservative Party and appointed to the Senate so they would be paid out of public money. Neither was eligible to be a senator for the province they were appointed for as they were not residents of that province. Mike Duffy even raised the point (of not being eligible), but the people in the PMO assured him there would be no problem about that. All he had to do was claim his summer cottage as his prime residence.

Now if Mr. Hult and anyone else will buy that the control freak prime minister didn’t know about all of this, then I have some prime Saskatchewan ocean front property for sale, just a short drive from North Battleford.
