Dear Editor
I would like to publicly thank Neil Clark for allowing myself and two other frozen bus riders to warm up and wait in his vehicle on the night of Feb.3.
After the North Battleford bus depot closed, we were left out in the cold waiting over an hour for a Greyhound bus that was running 100 minutes behind schedule.
My gratitude also goes out to the gentleman who appeared and handed us hot chocolate “courtesy of Steph, from the Co-op” just as we finally boarded the bus. He must have seen us freezing outside, and his gesture was extremely appreciated.
I know this is not the first time people have been forced out into the cold at the bus depot. While it is not the depot’s fault that the bus was running late, they seriously need to reevaluate this practice of closing regardless of people waiting for a bus. Saskatchewan winters can be treacherously cold, and I am alarmed at the thought of an elderly person or infant forced outside, and stranded. It’s not just bad customer service, it’s dangerous.
