Congratulations to the Old Mill Players for pulling off another successful live theatre the weekend of Feb. 19. The title already revealed that it was going to be hilarious and, yes, it was! A couple are trying to sell their one star hotel in the Florida Keys. A prospective buyer is arriving so the staff masquerade as paying guests to make it look like it is a very prosperous and busy hotel. The play is advertised as a real merry go round, with lots of action that leaves the audience screaming with delight. I did not partake in the performance this year, due to other commitments, and was not around on that weekend. Hotbed Hotel, written by Michael Parker, was under the directorship of Delores Buckingham. Lights and sound equipment was handled by Gordon Sherman and Jaycee Bulmer. The prompter was Elizabeth Ewanchuk, wife to Roman, one of the cast members. There were two evening performances and one afternoon performance.

Ruby Rafuse has sold her house to Anthony Bomok from the Speers area. She had no problem selling her property, which is quite unusual for a hamlet with no amenities. Ruby is enjoying her new environment in her North Battleford condo, with a lot of new opportunities to meet people.

Congratulations to Frank and Jennifer Rogers on their firstborn baby in January. Proud grandparents in our community to this bouncing baby boy are Dave and Greta Rogers.

With a sudden dump of snow that we were all wishing for and, next day, the unwelcome rain, the highway was a nightmare to travel on. To travel 45 miles home from North Battleford to Mayfair, it took one resident a good one and a half hours.

Snowmobiling in the Rocky Mountains seems to be a joy for the prairie guys. Our son Ryan, Adam Mischuk from Cold Lake and a few others managed to come home safe and sound after this so-called thrilling adventure. When you hear of all the avalanches being triggered by these heavy machines, it seems to become a dangerous sport.

February school break went quickly for the students, but at times not fast enough for parents. Weather-wise, it did cooperate, with decent temperatures. In just one more month, the kids will be taking pleasure in having an Easter school holiday. Is this going to happen in snow or mud?
