Craving a local news update and there’s still a number of days before the next Review is released? There’s now an option for you: our new website, right here at parklandreview.ca.
The website, like our newspaper, focuses on news that happens in – and affects – our region. We’re not going to add stories about Saskatoon, Regina, Toronto or Timbuktu, Mali, just to fill it up. There are other websites that specialize in that – and have massive staffs to do so.
Yet if this new website is going to be a success, it has to be a two-way street between us and our readers. There’s a community events calendar online that we need help to fill with community and non-profit events across the Northeast. We’ll need local advertisers to promote themselves there. Of course, we’ll also need the patronage of the readers.
Make no mistake: this is not a replacement for the paper product – it is a supplement. I’ve been told time and time again – even by younger people in their 20s and 30s – that they like feeling the paper in their hand as they read the stories of the week. Again, just like the website, we’ll need the support of readers and local advertisers for it to continue to be a success.
Tankard
I thought I’d add just a little bit on the SaskTel Men’s Tankard happening in Tisdale this week, from Feb. 1 to 5.
Over and over again, talking to organizers from both the area and away, the reason we’re getting this event here was because Tisdale put on a great show for the women’s provincials back in 2014.
If we want to see similar events in Tisdale again, we’ve got to make sure the players and people from CurlSask have a great time this time too. So if you’ve got the time, check the event out.
