Revere the sacred sturgeon

Dear Editor I have a reminder for those who have forgotten, and those who don’t know. I’m referring to a Facebook post, where someone had landed a sturgeon from the North Saskatchewan River. These fish are protected by law.

Dear Editor

I have a reminder for those who have forgotten, and those who don’t know. I’m referring to a Facebook post, where someone had landed a sturgeon from the North Saskatchewan River.

These fish are protected by law. In the photo, it took two men to hold up the fish it was so big. Judging by the size, and my experience, this grandfather would range to be as old as Canada, or older. Some have been known to live up to 400 years. These fish have been here since before the dinosaurs .

To kill one is a crime and, in my opinion, a disgusting sin. Only natives are allowed to fish sturgeon and we consider them grandfather, and very sacred beings, the oldest living thing on earth. So please if you encounter one say “skolee,” and let him go so he can live another 200 years.
