We now seem to be in a pattern. A little snow, a little melting and then a little snow again. When it wasn't snowing the weather was quite pleasant. It really is typical November weather. Any wet dreams that we have had that the snow would melt and go away are slowly being eroded by new snow coming every other night. All, I know is that this is mighty pleasant over what we have had for the past two years. Just give me a little sunshine every so often, thank you, Big Guy!
For those who believe in the hoar frost, I have marked May 3, 2015 as a possible rain. For those non-believers just keep watching those television weather reports. Life is so much more interesting when you don't know what is coming.
On the home front, I think it is safe to say, that the green feed that I have, is not going to get baled now. There was a window of opportunity that it could have been done but the baler man was busy, then the baler broke down twice and now the baling is not done. Thirty-seven bales made. Maybe a quarter of what is out there. That is the way it goes sometimes. You can't win for losing and the best laid plans of mice and men sometimes go awry and must be started over all again.
My man Jaco, who is from South Africa, has gone back for his brother's wedding. He has sent me an email with some pictures of the wedding. Everyone looks very happy. He has reported that it is 35 C down there and he is loving it. He probably is not wearing his Helly Hansen's that he had on here for the last month before he went back to South Africa. He is supposed to be back in the beginning of December. He came in June and he has a two-year contract. We will see. After many years with my father hiring housekeepers, I take nothing for granted. When I see the whites of his eyes across my kitchen table, then I know he is back.
I have found a reasonably priced 3208 Cat motor for the one tandem truck we have. On the old motor the piston broke and then smashed a fist-sized hole out of the side of the water jacket so antifreeze could run into the oil pan. The motor ran rough but it was still running. We took it apart to see what was wrong with it. When I saw the hole in the cylinder wall, I could not believe that the motor still ran. This will be an in the shop project for later.
In Ottawa much has been happening but not what you would call progress. An MP who once worked as an aid to Stephen Harper has been convicted of illegally using $21,000 of his own money in his election campaign. He has since resigned from Parliament.
Two female NDP members of Parliament have accused two Liberal MPs of sexual harassment. The female NDP members wish to remain anonymous and their names not brought forward. One incident happened several months ago and one a year ago. They told NDP leader John Mulcair and he did nothing. They told Liberal leader Justin Trudeau and after a meeting with the two men, Justin Trudeau booted them out of the Liberal Caucus and banned them from running in the next election. I have to hand it to Trudeau, once he knew, he acted.
To do nothing would really come back to bite him. For him it was the right thing to do in the quick sands of Ottawa politics. Not to debate whether these two guys are guilty or not, but a dangerous precedent has been set here. Any woman anywhere could accuse some man and he is instantly deemed guilty. These two MPs were tried, convicted and sentenced on some anonymous accusation. No trial, no way to defend themselves. It is just not right!
In Toronto, the media is all a twitter as the CBC has fired radio show host Jian Ghomeski for allegedly having non-consensual rough sex with women he was dating. Now he has filed a $55 million lawsuit against the CBC for wrongful dismissal. Nine women have come forward but most wish to remain anonymous. Some of this dates back years, some continued to date him after the rough sex happened. A person doesn't know what to think about the whole sordid affair. A view from afar is there is many a strange thing happening in Toronto and in Ottawa, too.
In the war against ISIS Canadian jets have killed three dump trucks and a bulldozer. Had to be refueled mid-flight. What did all that cost? Now I read that the ISIS has anti-aircraft missiles. To think we could fly with no one attacking back is naive. Will one of our boys come home in a body bag? I can only hope not.
Friday, those of you in the Lloydminster Constituency get to vote for a new MLA. There is a full slate of candidates running, which is nice to see. These people, win or lose, do the country a service because they let their names stand for the election. Without someone standing for election there would be no election and no democracy. My hat is off to each and every one of them. I thank you for letting your name stand. The people of the Lloydminster Constituency should make it a point to get out and vote. If you don't vote, you have no right to bitch. The people will decide and I believe the people are never wrong.
Joke of the week: A young Catholic couple were killed in a car accident on the way to the church to get married. St. Peter was very busy so they had to wait until he could process them. While they were waiting they were wondering if they could get married in heaven. When St Peter came along they asked him if they could get married in heaven. St. Peter said, "I don't know. I will have to find out," and off he went. They waited and waited, months went by. While they were waiting they began to wonder if this marriage didn't turn out could they get a divorce in heaven. After about three months a bedraggled St. Peter returned and said, "Yes. They could be married." They then asked him, "Well, we have been wondering if the marriage didn't work out, what about a divorce?" At that point St Peter threw down his clip board and yelled at them, "It took me three months to find a priest. How long do you think it will take to find a lawyer?"
