I would like to acknowledge the fact that the City of Humboldt's Facebook Page is extremely biased and they like to hide comments under the rug. This morning I commented on their Facebook page with a picture of a local road, stating somewhere along the lines of "When are the roads going to be fixed? I know some other communities have started road construction and we really need it. You know the roads are bad when I bottom out my SUV!". They deleted my post on their Facebook page. I then responded with a post along these lines "Raspberries to the City of Humboldt for deleting my comment on the roads. I pay taxes in this city, I would just like to know when road construction is starting". They then proceeded to delete that comment and respond with a comment stating: "Just a reminder that comments made by the public on this page are not official or supported communications of the City of Humboldt. Comments are monitored and if they are determined to be biased, nonfactual, inappropriate, offensive etc. they may be removed. If the public wish to raise their concerns with any matter that is deemed important, it is suggested that they contact Administration at City Hall during working hours for effective resolution." Two girls commented on this post stating "so posting asking when the streets will be fixed is offensive" and "or was the picture "nonfactual", haha!". The City of Humboldt then proceeded to delete both of their posts. This is nuts! What kind of government chooses to hide unsightly things under the rug instead of addressing them? I have the right to free speech and yet they deleted my posts twice and now have blocked me from posting or even messaging them on Facebook!! Disgraceful behaviour from figures that are supposed to be representing the City. I think the Mayor and Councillors should take a look at who is the face of the City of Humboldt and what kind of message they are sending to citizens by deleting every post they find unsightly.
