If you follow the news, you know Israel is at war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Hearing about war in the Middle East has become like a broken record for most people. The world has watched the Jews and Muslims go at each other's throats ever since Israel became a country in 1948.
Many people simply don't care and others don't know which group to side with. But when looking at all of the facts, it's abundantly clear that it's extremely important for Canada and the United States to back Israel.
The world needs to realize the Jewish people have been under persecution long before Adolph Hitler walked the earth. To show that, here's a look at some instances the Jewish people have been under persecution.
- 1215: Pope Innocent III made the Jews in Rome wear a yellow patch on their clothing in an attempt to shame them.
- 1290: King Edward expelled the Jews from England.
- 1306: Jews were kicked out of France.
- 1394: Jews were kicked out of Hungary.
- 1492: Over 200,000 Jews were expelled from Spain.
- 1497: Jews weren't permitted to live in Russia. The ban lasted 200 years.
- 1945: The Nazi regime wiped out 67 per cent (just under 6 million people) of the world's Jewish population.
Here we are in 2014, and people are actually wondering why Israel has been aggressive in their war with Hamas? For the amount of persecution the Jewish people have endured, no one should bat an eye by their aggressive nature. They have seen how it goes when they are passive and don't want to go through hell on earth again.
It goes to show that most people that say "Never again" don't really mean it. If they meant it, they would be very vocal at this time with Islam extremists threating to wipe the Jewish people off the face of the earth.
And don't be naïve, Hamas is a terrorist organization not Gaza's military group. The left wing media has done an atrocious job of researching what they stand for. The Hamas Charter reads like a modern day Mein Kampf. Their goal is to not only take over the land that Israel occupies, but also to slaughter all of the Jewish people.
Of course some innocent people will lose their lives in the Gaza strip because of Israel's determination to win. That's how every war goes. You don't win a war by playing tit for tat, you come out on top by hitting your enemy 10 times harder than they hit you. You have to hit them so hard that they drop their guns in fear.
Democracy
Protecting the Jewish people is without question the biggest reason for backing Israel, but there are other incentives.
Israel is the only Democratic government in the Middle East. It's important for Canada and the United States to back fellow democratic countries because this is the only type of government that will lead the world in the right direction.
If 911 taught us anything, it's that we shouldn't underestimate the extreme Islam movement. These terrorist organizations such as Hamas and ISIS are willing to do whatever it takes because of their strong belief in their evil cause.
That said, if the Islamist movement defeats Israel, they aren't done there. In the various terrorist organizations' charters and released videos, they clearly state they want to defeat the West. It's their intention to cleanse the world of all those who won't submit to Islam.
There's such an arrogant and naïve attitude in the United States and Canada that most people believe we're untouchable. We hear Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS and other terrorist groups chant "death to America" on television, but most feel that could never happen to us. If you study history, you'll see this type of arrogance is frighteningly comparable to that of the Roman Empire. The Empire, of course, fell after over 500 years of dominating the world largely due to the fact that they underestimated their enemies.
