PRINCE ALBERT - Second update, May 26: One woman has been arrested and faces charged in relation to a shooting that occurred Thursday in the 900 Block of 17th Street West.
Just before 2 p.m. on May 22, a man attended the Prince Albert Police Service front office and advised that a female attempted to rob him at gunpoint. The man also advised that he discharged a firearm at the woman and had the firearm with him.
Patrol members attended the front office and subsequently arrested the man.
A loaded firearm was seized from his person.
Shortly after, officers located the woman with injuries consistent with a gun shot. She was transported to hospital by Parkland Ambulance before being transported to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.
After being discharged from the hospital in Saskatoon, the woman was arrested. Through investigation, officers learned the woman entered the man’s residence and attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
During the course of the robbery, a physical struggle took place between the man and the woman.
The man gained control of the firearm and subsequently discharged it, striking the woman.
As a result of this investigation, the 36-year-old woman has been charged with multiple firearms charges, armed robbery, and discharging a firearm with intent to endanger a life.
Update, May 23: Members of the Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Section executed a search warrant at a residence in the 900 Block of 17th Street West Friday morning.
Police were investigating a shooting that occurred at that residence.
Police are no longer on scene and members of the public are no longer asked to avoid the area.
The Prince Albert Police Service is continuing to investigate and an update will be provided when available.
