SASKATOON - Average retail gasoline prices in Saskatoon average 134.20 c/L, flat from last week's 134.21 c/L., according to GasBuddy's Sunday survey.

This compares with the national average that has increased 4.6 c/L in the last week to 140.73 c/L, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

"With Israel and Iran trading attacks over the past week, oil prices have continued to climb— and gasoline prices in Canada are following suit, rising at a pace we haven’t seen since last summer," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "Few regions have been spared, with every province seeing gas prices rise over the last week. Additionally, average diesel prices recorded their largest weekly jump since August 2023. Now, with the U.S. launching attacks on Iran, oil prices are likely to continue trending higher. That said, I do not expect the apocalyptic price spikes being circulated by some so-called influencers on social media— many of which are wildly inaccurate. For now, Canadians should anticipate a continued, steady climb in fuel prices, with the national average expected to rise another 3 to 7 cents per litre for gasoline this week, while diesel could increase by 5 to 10 cents per litre. These forecasts could shift quickly as global developments unfold, so we encourage Canadians to stay tuned to GasBuddy for the latest updates and insights."Including the change in gas prices in Regina during the past week, prices yesterday were 20.4 c/L lower than the same day one year ago and are 2.0 c/L lower than a month ago. The national average has increased 0.3 c/L during the last month and stands 19.8 c/L lower than this day one year ago.
