SASKATOON – An upcoming two-day event taking place at River Landing is set to draw sizable crowds looking for something fun for the whole family.

The WEGO Festival, Remai Modern's free and family-friendly event, returns to River Landing in Saskatoon on Aug. 24 and 25.

Now in its fifth year, WEGO engages people of all ages through a fun and varied program both inside and outside the museum. On Sunday, Aug. 24, the museum and River Landing will play host to a dynamic program of music, performances, activities and more. The following day, Low-Sensory WEGO offers a welcoming, accessible environment for those who benefit from reduced noise, lighting and crowd size.

Stephanie McKay, communications manager for Remai, told SaskToday that the event typically sees around 1,500 to 2,000 people in attendance each year.

Organizers are pleased to see that the festival has become a yearly go-to event for Saskatoon and area families.

“We are delighted to see that WEGO has become an annual tradition for families and a special way for the community to come together before the end of summer,” said Aileen Burns and Johan Lundh, Remai Modern’s co-executive director and CEO, in a media release. “This event was created in 2021 as a thank you to the people of Saskatoon for supporting the museum and that spirit continues today.”

WEGO 2025 features a wide range of performers and program partners. Two outdoor stages will showcase music from okimaw ᐅᑭᒪᐤ (pronounced oh-gih-mao), Mr. Eric (Eric Paetkau), Jay and Danica, and Beau Nectar.

The event also includes family-friendly activities presented by community partners, including the Saskatoon Public Library, Western Development Museum, Meewasin Valley Authority, Wonderhub, Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan, Girls Rock Camp YXE and OUTSaskatoon.

Visitors are encouraged to go to remaimodern.org for additional information about what to expect during the festival, which will take place rain or shine.

Low-Sensory WEGO will feature adapted programming and a welcoming atmosphere throughout the museum. Visitors can engage with hands-on activities from community partners in a setting designed to reduce sensory input and crowding. Organizers are asking guests to reserve only the number of tickets they need so staff can welcome as many guests as possible.
