PLENTY — SaskEnergy will carry out controlled natural gas flaring on Tuesday, June 24, at a meter station site about eight kilometres southeast of Plenty.
The flaring is scheduled to take place from 8 to 11 a.m., near the Teine Energy Facility in the RM of Mountain View. The operation may be adjusted based on operating needs.
During the process, residents and motorists may see a 40-foot flame coming from a temporary flare stack. Flaring is a standard safety procedure used to remove natural gas from pipelines undergoing maintenance, and reduces the carbon footprint of vented gas by roughly 85 per cent.
SaskEnergy says trained personnel will monitor the site throughout the work and for a day afterward while equipment is dismantled. A water truck will also be on site to help manage heat and ensure public safety.
No residential natural gas service interruptions are expected. Local authorities, including the RM of Mountain View and the Rosetown Fire Department, have been notified.
