ELBOW - It's summertime, meaning people have the lake on their minds and a cold drink in their hands, but as far as land activities go, the rodeo is typically a hot ticket in any town or village across the province.

That was certainly the case in the village of Elbow over July 18 & 19 as the community hosted its yearly Lakeshore Stampede rodeo events.

Each night featured events such as ladies barrel racing, junior barrel racing, bareback riding, both novice and standard saddle bronc riding, tie down roping, ladies break away roping, junior steer riding, steer wrestling, novice bull riding, team roping, and bull riding.

Locals kept an eye on all the events, but kept a closer one on the local talent that took to the arena, such as the following:

Hannah McCannell of Delisle (Ladies barrel racing)
Glen Hamilton of Dundurn (Tie down roping)
Jody Traynor of Delisle (Ladies break away roping)

When the bronco-busting and steer wrestling was wrapped for the nights, entertainment provided by musical group Cooper Tropeau & The Broken Bones followed by DJ Brocky B was on tap.

For local rodeo fans, there's still more action to come this summer, as the Riverbank Rodeo Committee in Outlook gets ready to host their own two-night event at the new rodeo grounds just behind the Jim Kook Rec Plex, taking place Friday & Saturday night over August 8 & 9.
