A memorable excursion in the lakeside vistas of Alberta was good for the soul for this reporter and his brother, Brendon.

LAKE LOUISE - Having returned to work recently after a summer holiday break, I thought I would share a few snapshots of what I was up to, particularly in Alberta.

I've only holiday'd and vacationed out in Alberta what feels like 1000 times, but on this particular excursion, my two brothers John and Brendon accompanied me on a day trip out to Lake Louise and Banff, where it can definitely feel like as if home is many, many hours away instead of the usual six or so back to Saskatchewan.

The heavy, flowing waters, the mountainsides still topped with snow despite it being the last weekend in June, and the picturesque views made this trip a certified one for the history books.

Despite the heavy traffic - both vehicle and foot - at Lake Louise, it was incredible seeing this gorgeous body of water up close. Even more spectacular was my view from the mountain after I took a gondola ride far up top.

It was definitely a day that I'll remember for quite some time.

Alberta, folks. It's capable of showing us Saskatchewanians some breathtaking things.
