OUTLOOK - It may have been a grey, rainy weekend in Outlook and area, but that didn't stop people from getting out and enjoying the annual River & Rail ArtVenture.
The two-day art exhibition, which sees artists from Outlook, Broderick, Hawarden, Loreburn, Elbow, Central Butte, Riverhurst, and Davidson set up shop at locations within their communities and welcome visitors who take the road trip to see them and check out their wares, is a routinely hit event with art lovers from around this part of the province, and this year was no exception.

In Outlook itself, a number of makers were on location at the Heritage Centre presenting their creations, such as author Tony Peter and wood craftsman Ed Jensen, and some more eye-catching creations were on hand at the Bounty Theatre hall, where a focus on Indigenous artwork from creators Ray Keighley and Shann Brecht brought the people out to make dream catchers and try their hand at painting.
At the art gallery, 'Common Thread' was the theme for the annual quilt show, with the latest creations adorning the walls. Taking a drive around town, the photography works of Irma Nikula at her home on Pangman Street grabbed attention, as did the woodburning creations by Willie Schachtel at her home over on Carter Crescent.

For those who ventured outside of Outlook, the works of Susan Robertson at her studio in Broderick were a popular stop, and additional stops at locations in Hawarden, Loreburn, and Elbow were also popular destinations for those who hopped in their vehicles and toured the district area.
