UNITY - Twenty years is an amazing accomplishment for any business or organization. The volunteer-run cat rescue organization known as KC Rescue, located in Unity, is celebrating this milestone.

Started out of a home, the organization grew to be located in the downstairs, former business location of its founder, Corinne Thalheimer. When Thalheimer retired, KC Rescue was relocated to the former pool house that was renovated to accommodate caring for and keeping rescue cats until they could be adopted.

July 29, KC Rescue board and volunteers invited the community to join in a celebration. The event was offered as a Catfe, which included the opportunity to meet the cats currently housed there. There would also be an option to purchase cold drinks provided by Rise and Grinds as well as fresh baking.

Many residents have told tales of visiting other communities that have stray cat problems without an organization like KC Rescue, and have voiced their appreciation for the board and volunteers for doing what they can to reduce this problem in Unity.
