$222,402 received by four local communities for recreation projects

Denzil, Luseland, Macklin and Wilkie receive federal funding for recreation and community spaces.

SASKATCHEWAN — The communities of Denzil, Luseland, Macklin and Wilkie are recipients of funding for recreation projects as a result of PrairiesCan investing $12.8 million for recreation and community revitalization projects across Saskatchewan.

The funding is aimed to help Saskatchewan communities and organizations access resources needed to expand or upgrade operations, benefitting residents and visitors while helping with economic recovery.

A July 6 media release states, “To help encourage people to gather safely and boost local economies, the Government of Canada is investing in revitalizing community infrastructure across Saskatchewan. Modern infrastructure and amenities create vibrant communities where people want to visit, live and support the local economy.”

The funding will support new and improved recreational amenities like playgrounds, museums, community centres and outdoor experiences.

Funding was provided through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund, administered by PrairiesCan. (Prairies Economic Development Canada).
