A fresh lineup for the Unity Miners

UNITY — The Unity Miners board of directors recently held a meeting. New on the board are Jessica Gerein, Blaine Gerein, Vern Schultz, Ken Ralston and Kevin Scherr. Curtis McLean is staying on as coach and Mitch Cooper as player liaison.Brian Woytiuk has stepped down as an executive yet will remain on the board to help when needed.

Two exhibition games against teams in the Cross Roads Hockey League were held in Luseland Oct. 20 and the other at home Oct. 21 against the Kindersley Kodiaks.

The season will kick off with a home game against Kindersley Nov. 3, with an additional 17 regular season games to follow.  

Most of last season's Miners are returning to the ice, with Davis Chorney and Dustan Heintz joining the team this year.

Sponsorship support has been great so far, according to team officials. Scoro squares are being sold over the next couple weeks as well as the Christmas Cheer raffle will be coming up and players will be selling tickets. There will also be a wing night after the Dec. 22 game against Macklin.
