Almost $16,000 raised in Luseland MS bike tour fundraiser

Team Flahr, who have been profoundly affected by MS, were very grateful to community support for their fundraising event Sept. 17 in Luseland

LUSELAND — It was a foggy start to the MS fundraiser held in Luseland Sept. 17, but that did not deter community members from joining Team Flahr on a bike tour and fundraiser meant to raise awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis.

The day included opening ceremonies and the official start to the ride followed by a barbecue at the finish line, hosted by Delta Co-op. Luseland Credit Union and Luseland Family Foods.

Luseland Credit Union says there was great support for the barbecue that helped raise an additional $2,870.50 for Team Flahr and the MS fundraiser.

An Aug 27, 2021, story on SASKTODAY.ca outlined the profound effect on a Luseland family that spawned their MS fundraising efforts. Pandemic protocols changed the way events were held so the Flahr family held an event in Luseland in 2021 and decided from its success to repeat the activity again in the community.

Trina Flahr of the Flahr family responds, “We are so blessed to have such amazing support from our hometown of Luseland and area from our family, friends, businesses and everyone we have met in the last eight years of riding.  For a small town of 650 people, 250 burgers were sold. With the support we received this year, $15,900 was raised which brings our team total to be over $111,000 raised for MS research.”

Residents say they were happy to support the family in their fundraising efforts as well as enjoy an outdoor event in the community with family, friends, and neighbours.
