Big donation boosts Kerrobert Pioneer Haven's fundraising efforts

A $10,000 donation from Luseland Credit Union to fund dining room, living room upgrades.

KERROBERT— Kerrobert’s Pioneer Haven, a senior assisted living facility, will celebrate 25 years in November. What better way to mark this milestone achievement than to have a modernized and updated facility?

Fundraising began for upgrades which are earmarked for the dining room and living room. It was noted the tables and chairs are aged and need replacing. Both areas also need a fresh coat of paint. New window coverings are also on the wish list as the current ones are not functional. New flooring is another item that is hoped to be included in the upgrades. It is also hoped that more exercise equipment can be purchased to be available for residents.

Already, an online 50/50 raffle did well, and KPH has received donations from a number of sources.

An exciting big boost to their efforts came by means of a substantial donation from Luseland Credit Union totaling $10,000.

A Luseland Credit Union spokesperson said, “We received a letter from Pioneers Haven requesting some funds to go towards the upgrades they hoped to have completed at their location. Several Luseland residents use the facility and board members discussed how the facility had not had many changes for a number of years. This resulted in the decision to help their project along with the donation.”

It has also been noted that Bazylinski, who is the new manager for the seniors' centre, is also a resident and councillor for the town of Luseland.

Hopes are high that the project can be funded by the end of August and work will be completed by the end of November. A celebration of project completion will be planned at that time.
